235th Child Supported this year!

2019 has seen us support our 235th child in the first 6 months of our year. That’s 235 children who wouldn’t have had any support during a parent’s cancer treatment.  Referrals continue to come in with North Wales Cancer Centre, The Christie Hospital & Macmillan Support & Information Centres being our main referrers this year so far. We find once a health worker knows about us within a setting, our referrals from that hospital, cancer centre, hospice etc increases, working closely with these is vital to ensure we reach as many children we can to access our support.

We have also introduced our blue Ozzy elephant ‘Mack’ in honour of a dear friend and supporter who died last year Donna McLelland. Mack is available to be sent out to boys wanting a teddy, cuddle and comfort during a parent’s cancer treatment.

We are always moving forwards, listening to feedback from our children and young people about what they need during this time.
